Good news for sneakerheads and fans of Back to the Future. Universal Studios has officially OK’ed a pair of replica Nike Air Mags just in time for Halloween and your inevitable Marty McFly costume. I’m sure you’ve been waiting on this news since the movie’s release in 1989, and once again in 2011 when a small batch of the sneakers (1,500 pairs to be exact) were created by Nike and auctioned off on eBay for charity. All proceeds went toward the the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
This go-round, they’re coming from Halloween Costumes, which finally got the licensing deal from Universal Studios. The sneakers feature light-up soles, an adjustable velcro strap, a USB cable to charge your shoes (~modern~), and a collector’s box to house them. Since these aren’t the Nike-endorsed/created kicks, there isn’t any Nike branding on the sneakers (not even so much as a swoosh to be found). Also, these don’t have power laces. But might they be available in 2015? Fingers crossed.

The sneakers can be found on the Halloween Costumes site for $100, but—gasp—they’re currently listed as “sold out.” But we knew better than to take no for an answer when it comes to sneakers/Halloween and so we gave Halloween Costumes a call. Here’s what we found out:
They’re not really sold out. Halloween Costumes hasn’t even received a shipment (yet!). They were supposed to get an initial shipment in, but that is yet to turn up.
They should be available soon. Like, September 30 soon.
There is no pre-order. Y’all better be at the ready.
Good luck, and may the odds be in your favor. I’ll be chilling to “The Power of Love” while waiting for my hoverboard.
