Modelizers, rejoice! San Diego Comic-Con premiered the first official preview of the new Mad Max installment, directed by George Miller. The fourth film in the franchise appears to be take place between the original Mad Max and Road Warrior, and from the looks of things has some major fashion credentials. Let’s take a look:
CHARLIZE THERON
Warner Bros. Pictures
It wasn’t so long ago that Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron was a teen model and billed as a nameless “supermodel” in Woody Allen’s 1998 Celebrity. Since then, she’s been the face of Christian Dior’s J’adore and appeared on countless magazine covers. In the trailer, she appears as short-haired Imperator Fuirosa.
MEGAN GALE
Australian model Megan Gale appears to be channeling her inner Lynda Carter in the trailer. Serious Question: if you’re Australian, and they cast you in Mad Max, do you automatically become Australian royalty? Is that like the highest honor? Do you get a golden boomerang?
ALL OF THE MODELS
Warner Bros. Pictures
Zoë Kravitz, Riley Keough, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, along with Aussies Courtney Eaton and Abbey Lee Kershaw round out the rest of the cast.
TOM HARDY
Warner Bros. Pictures
Oh and this guy, Tom Hardy, who’s starring as the titular title character, “Mad” Max Rockatansky. Sure he’s dreamy now, but did you know he used to be a model? Prior to starting his acting career, Tom won a modeling contest and, with that, a small modeling contract. He soon quit the modeling biz to join HBO’s Band Of Brothers, but, let’s be real, he could’ve totally made it on runway. From the looks of the trailer, Hardy appears to be wearing a mask that is wrapped around his face, which is bad news for my eyes, but good news for the terrible Bane impression that I’ve been doing in my apartment since The Dark Knight Rises.
Not a bad looking cast, right? But this trailer on repeat will help me bide my time until then.
