How Will Robin Thicke Top ‘Blurred Lines’ Video? Recruit President Obama!

How do you top a video as viral and as topless as Robin Thicke‘s VMA-nominated ? The R&B star knows that it’s all about going big — like, White House big — or going home when it comes to prepping ideas for “Give It 2 U.”

“We’re gonna have to see if President Obama will be in it,” Thicke joked to MTV News on Wednesday, the same day he found out for three Moonmen at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, taking place August 25, live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

“I don’t know how you can top ‘Blurred Lines.’ Either that, or maybe we just won’t make a video at all. Just disappear on top,” he added. “It’s like winning the championship in your last season. Why play again?”

If the president is too busy to make it to the shoot (which, let’s be honest, will likely be the case), Thicke does have 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar already locked in, calling their contributions to the track “exciting.” And, if they want to make their turns in the “Give It 2 U” video as memorable as Pharrell and T.I. in the “Blurred Lines” clip, the crooner has a quite wet and wild idea. But, it likely means they’ll be the ones shirtless this time around.

“We’re thinking about coming up with a synchronized swimming thing, where 2 Chainz and Kendrick do some leg kicks and maybe some flips in the water,” Thicke joked. “I don’t know if they’re down for it though,” he continued, insisting, “You won’t see me in a pool. You’ll have to get an illegal shot over the fence.”

“Give It 2 U” is the next video from Thicke’s July 30 album, Blurred Lines. Again, he’s working with his , Diane Martel. And, whether or not an Obama cameo or a synchronized-swimming sequence make it into the final cut, Martel told us she has her own ideas for the clip, saying the video will be a “crazed, half-time dance spectacle.”

“Blurred Lines” is nominated for Video of the Year, Best Male Video and Best Collaboration.

Voting for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards is now open!
