Amidst the Nicki Minaj-for-Target and Kanye West-for-A.P.C. collections of the world, seeing an indie band get into the collaborative design game feels pretty darn unique. That’s why we were so stoked to find out that YACHT was teaming up with Chilli Beans eyewear for a special range of sunglasses.

The band’s “Make Your Face Smile” collection features 11 different shades which take classic shapes and apply YACHT’s unique aesthetic spin—all crisp and clean, all black and white. And there’s something for everyone, from the timeless go-to style of The Black Standard ($65) to the kitschy novelty Eskimo Glasses ($65).

YACHT cites a variety of inspirations for the collection like Yayoi Kusama, Milan’s Memphis Collective, and the translucent straps of Swatch watches in the ’90s, but always infused with the duo’s unique point of view. There are hidden third-eyes in certain frames, and some standard temple screws are replaced with triangles. “Whenever we’re designing anything,” explained Jona Bechtolt, “we look at something and what’s already in place and think about how we can make them more interesting or break them.”

This marks the second time YACHT has surprised us with a curveball foray into the fashion and beauty space—the first being the band’s rollerball Shangri-La perfume, which Jona and Claire created with OLO in timing with their 2011 album of the same name. YACHT’s “Make Your Face Smile” sunglasses collection is available online now (!!!!!) at ChilliBeans.com, coinciding with the relaunch of the brands new online store.
