Can you put a price on loyalty? If you ask Dame Dash, a helping hand certainly deserves some support in return. During a visit to on Wednesday, Jay Z’s former business partner vented about the lack of support that’s been shown to fellow Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke during his legal proceedings.
In June 2012 Burke was sentenced to five years in prison, after pleading guilty to conspiring to distribute over 100 kilos of marijuana, and Dame is outraged that he’s been left to fend for himself.
He first expressed his disappointment in an Instagram post, where he blasted, “the people that I personally watched Biggs help,” for sitting back and looking on. Of course, there was an immediate assumption that his anger was directed toward Jay Z, but Dame cleared that up.
“I’m not too satisfied with the support of those that he’s looked out for over the years,” he told Sway, going on to address rumors that he was throwing those shots at Jay.
“It doesn’t matter what people think. I don’t project for that. I just project. If the shoe fits it has to be worn. If I have an issue with Jay, I’ll step to Jay about it, but my point is overall, it ain’t Jay, it’s a lot of people that I’ve seen him look out for that are expecting him to ask for help and he’s not gonna ask for it.
“He’s gonna do his time like a man, he’s not gonna tell on nobody, and he’s not gonna complain.”
Dame has been showing his support by selling “Free Biggs” clothing on his Poppington Art website, to benefit his friend. “We talk every day and we send pictures but I’m just really disappointed in the core of people,” he added.
“I’ve him help people through really rough times and those same exact people are not stepping up. They’re expecting him to ask and I just don’t think that alright.”
