Jack Antonoff ‘Almost Died’ Filming Bleachers’ ‘Rollercoaster’ Video: Watch Now

Jack Antonoff “almost died” filming the latest Bleachers video. And while there were no weapons or maniacs involved, an accident is bound to happen when you’re performing atop a cruising ice cream truck.

The fun. guitarist released the video for “Rollercoaster” on Tuesday (October 28), a day after his friend Taylor Swift dropped 1989, which he co-produced. The clip, directed by Richard Shepard, was somewhat dangerous to film, he said.

“The idea of getting on top of a car and playing on a highway felt distinctly ’90s in a way that excited me about videos I saw growing up. Didn’t think it would be acutely dangerous — the brakes ended up going out and we literally almost died,” Antonoff said of the video, according to Pitchfork. “There’s something special about almost dying for a video. Beyond that, ‘Rollercoaster’ was written while I was driving home on the NJ turnpike. The song always felt like driving on a highway to me sonically.”

Bleachers is Antonoff’s side project. He put out the album Strange Desire earlier this year. Here’s the live version from when Bleachers was MTV’s Artist to Watch:
