Despite several reports that Beyoncé is expecting her second baby, her hubby Jay-Z is opening up to say the rumors are not true. \ This weekend, Jay emailed Ebro Darden, the program director for New York radio station Hot 97, to say that Blue Ivy won’t be a big sister just yet. Darden explained on Monday morning (May 20) that “it’s not true.”
The news comes just as rumors about the pregnancy have reached fevered pitch. Only weeks ago, Beyoncé first opened up to “Good Morning America” about her desire to have more children.
“I would like more children. I think my daughter needs company. I definitely love being a big sister and at some point when it’s supposed to happen. My biggest job in the world is to protect my daughter and I am very protective,” she said. “I just want to make sure that she can have a healthy, safe, normal life. I feel really, really just lucky that I can still do what I love and now have a way bigger meaning, and that’s to be her mother.”
One week after the interview aired, Beyoncé canceled a May 14 stop on her Mrs. Carter World Tour in Antwerp, Belgium, citing dehydration and exhaustion. Quickly, a rumor began to spread that Bey was expecting and the cancelation was tied to her second pregnancy.
After writing a handwritten apology for her first postponement “in my life,” she defied doctor’s orders was back onstage the following night.
Two days later, on Friday, a source confirmed her pregnancy to E! News, days after New York Post‘s Page Six originated the rumor. While anyone in Beyoncé’s camp had yet to confirm the news, photos began to make the rounds that reportedly pointed to Bey’s baby bump.
Beyoncé is currently spanning the world on her tour. She’ll wrap up the global dates on June 1 with several weeks off before landing Stateside on June 28. At Saturday night’s show in Milan, evidence of a baby bump was nowhere to be seen.
