After a second video surfaced of Justin Bieber using the N-word, fans of the embattled singer didn’t seem to be so willing to forgive him as they were after the first video leaked.
The video, which was posted to TMZ on Wednesday, shows a young Bieber singing a racist version of “One Less Lonely Girl.” Bieber offered up another mea culpa, but detractors and fans still made a beeline to social media to offer up their thoughts and comments regarding the racist remarks made by the pop star.
“The last few times Bieber got into trouble, “Beliebers” rallied w/ support. This time? Little quieter. Might be why he apologized. #tytlive,” wrote JDVarner.
Bieber supporters leaned on the “growing up” defense, but some people aren’t buying it.
“Bieber supporters who are spouting the argument, ‘Oh, he’s just growing up…’ Doesn’t growing up entail maturing and acting like an adult?” wrote PushinUpRoses.
While CNN anchor Don Lemon blamed “young people of all ages, in public, who can barely get through a sentence without using the word” for Bieber’s woes, fans are getting tired of “excuses.”
“Can we please stop making excuses for Justin Bieber now? Thanks.” wrote BlitznBeans.
Perhaps the most telling opinion came from an MTV News commenter who has a biracial daughter devoted to the Bieber fanclub.
“Today while googling her favorite singer she learned a heart breaking truth about something she has no control over!!!” she wrote about her daughter, Julie. “I have been sticking up for him for years and I just lost all respect for him in each of her falling tears. What a rat! He’ll never get another penny of mine from his music or any other merchandise EVER!”
All hope is not lost, though. Some Beliebers recalled another singer who had to battle through adversity.
“If you think Justin Bieber’s career is suddenly over because of his racist remarks, two words: Chris Brown,” tweeted felicefawn.
Felice is not alone, either. Hordes of diehard fans of the Biebs have posted their support.
It’ll indeed be a difficult for Bieber to recover. Justin has made his apologies, but there’s n telling how many people will accept them.
“Facing my mistakes from years ago has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever dealt with,” Bieber said in a statement on Thursday. “But I feel now that I need to take responsibility for those mistakes and not let them linger.”
The video has also garnered responses from high-profile artists, including Lupe Fiasco, who in an interview with MTV News compared his remarks to those of Clippers owner Donald Sterling. Meanwhile, Lil Wayne, Birdman and Mack Maine told TMZ that they still consider the Biebs family, saying he “does not have a slave mentality. He treats his people with respect.”
