Kanye Praises Pusha T, Dumps On ‘Culture Vultures’ In Classic Rant

NEW YORK — There’s never a dull moment when Mr. West is in the building. Pusha T previewed his long-delayed and much-anticipated solo debut, My Name Is My Name during a listening session in New York City on Wednesday night, and Kanye came out to show his support, complete with a good ol’ fashioned rant for the “culture vultures.”

Surrounded by a crowd of music insiders in an open loft space, Pusha began to play cuts from the album, while rapping along, and it wasn’t long before West joined him for a very vocal cameo.

“This Yeezy right now speaking to y’all,” Kanye screamed to the crowd that quickly circled around him and Pusha. “This the heart of the muthaf—ing city. Act like y’all ain’t have that muthaf—ing Clipse album and sh–. Act like y’all ain’t base y’all whole sh–, whole lifestyle off this n—a Pusha T.

“Everything is Pusha T,” ‘Ye continued. “Pyrex Vision, that’s Pusha T. Fear of God, that’s Pusha T. This n—a the heart of the muthaf—-ing culture for you culture vultures. This the only n—a spitting that wild muthaf—ing hip-hop sh– right now — that’s why I stand next to this n—a. I don’t give a f— about none of these corporations, none of these f—-ing sellouts — this muthaf—-ing Pusha T!”

During the night Pusha played a brand-new Kendrick Lamar verse, and songs like “40 Acres,” which he teased for MTV News back in summer 2012.

And there was plenty more of Yeezus’ expletive-filled speech, during which he admitted to being a bit intoxicated. “This is the sh– we make. We make good music, we make good music. We don’t give a f— about how much goddamn money you make, we make good music,” the G.O.O.D. Music label honcho said in a play on words.

“I’m off that [Grey] Goose right now. I might get loose right now,” ‘ye went on. “We don’t give a f— … n—a, this is that culture. For everybody stealing the culture, for all n—as trying to do their camo prints, all these n—as trying to extend their mothaf—in’ T-shirts, trying to throw numbers on the back of their sh–, this [is] mothaf—in’ Pusha T. I got a T-shirt line, ’cause I got numbers on the back of my sh–. F— you.”

Pusha T’s debut, My Name Is My Name, is due out on October 8.
