Kanye West And Jay-Z Will Reunite As The Throne ‘Eventually’

Jay-Z and Kanye West started flirting with putting out a second Throne album almost immediately after Watch the Throne dropped in 2011. Hov himself told MTV News that we could very well get new solo albums for both he and Kanye and a new Throne for 2012, but the calendar year came and went, so will we ever get another joint album from the duo?

“Yeah, eventually,” WTT producer Mike Dean HuffPost Live on Monday. “[They’re] not working on it yet, it’s just talking about it. I actually talked to Jay about it last week.”

“You might see a Jay, then Kanye and a Throne album next year. You know, we’re really in a great place creatively. We really found our zone,” Hov told us back in December 2011.

The timing may have been off, but it seems now that Hov’s prediction will be coming to pass. Dean has been busy helping Kanye put the finishing touches on West’s sixth solo LP, Yeezus, which will drop on June 18 and Jay-Z is currently said to be working on his 12th solo album as well. He’s recently been photographed in the studio with Drake, Raekwon and in one star-studded picture appeared alongside Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and Nas.

It’s been four years since Jay-Z dropped his last solo LP The Blueprint 3 and if we get a new album this year it will be the longest gap between Hov solo releases since he dropped his 1996 debut, Reasonable Doubt. Who knows when fans will actually get the next Throne album, however.

“My lips are sealed,” Dean said. “I don’t want to do any spoilers. I’ll let them get all their spoilers themselves.”
