Brace yourselves—and your wallets—because Kanye West‘s first pair of Adidas Yeezys are coming in November. [Cue the chest-banging intro of “I Am a God.”] At a show last night in Australia on the never-ending Yeezus tour, Ye casually mentioned the release month of his first shoe for Adidas during the middle of his “Runaway” monologue. JK, it wasn’t casual—nothing about Kanye West is casual.
While he had originally said the shoes would be coming in June, last night Ye told the crowd, “Now I feel good because we’ve been working hard and we got the new Yeezys 3 coming in November and this is just the beginning. This is something that I want to create and do for the rest of my life.” We’d like that, too, Kanye—please do it for the rest of your life. Pretty please.
Of course, if Ye had his way, he’d already be written into textbooks. “Now there’s only two times in history: Before Yeezus and after,” he added. “Every now and then in life you’ve got to turn up just to let people know that you ain’t playing with them and that they can’t play with you. Now it’s time to create, which is my dream and why god put me on this earth.”
Kanye also gave us what we really wanted to hear which is that this Adidas collaboration will be different from Nike one, in the sense that we might actually have a chance at owning a pair of the new Yeezys for less than $16 million. (Yes, you read that right.) “It might have looked a little bit wild when I was talking and turning up but the only thing that matters is that this time next year, when I say, ‘Do y’all want Yeezys?’ You say you was able to at least try on a pair, at least cop a pair—that they was in your hands and you weren’t being held back by some company that will give any athlete 500 billion dollars but if you take somebody that actually is part of this and sent to the office in fourth grade for drawing sneakers and went to art school and decided to do music. They talk to you like it didn’t happen, like it wasn’t important.”
Anyone wanna start saving up with me so we can at least, like, try to buy a communal pair?
