Kanye West has been mostly mum on his relationship with pregnant girlfriend Kim Kardashian. But in a very public display of affection, Yeezy let his feelings spill on the stage at Monday night’s glitzy Met Gala in New York when he gave a heartfelt shout out to his beloved.
In a set that reportedly featured songs from his as-yet-untitled new album, West took a moment at one point to say, “Don’t let nobody bring you down, you’re so awesome, you’re so awesome!,” according to a Vine video posted by model Coco Rocha. Reports from the event indicated that the comment was meant for Kardashian, who has been the subject of ongoing tabloid ridicule during her pregnancy.
In another clip, West, who took the stage in a leather skirt, sparkly Givenchy top and studded, gauzy mask, can be seen performing what sounds like another new song with a uptempo, glitch techno vibe and a song in which he yells, “I am a god!”
West told the crowd he would only be singing new songs during the set, though in a snipped uploaded by model Jamie King he can be heard singing the hook from the G.O.O.D music hit “Clique.”
Fans are still awaiting word for when the new West album is coming. He may have offered a clue last week when he cryptically tweeted, “June eighteenth,” with no further explanation about whether it’s the album’s release date, Kim’s due date or maybe a wedding announcement.
Kardashian was clearly honored by the on-stage vote of confidence, Instagramming a response afterwards featuring a photo of Yeezy on stage with the caption, “Baby, you’re AWESOME.”
