Karlie Kloss is an international supermodel and Victoria’s Secret Angel, and on Sunday, the 20-year-old added another bullet point to her résumé when she served as red carpet host for the 2013 MTV Movie Awards pre-show. Karlie has walked plenty of red carpets, but the hosting role was a whole new world.
The pressure was on for the live show, but thankfully, she had veteran correspondent Josh Horowitz to help her through. MTV News caught up with Karlie after the show to learn all about her first time.
Josh was a big help. Josh Horowitz was my co-host, and he really carried me through, and so I was really lucky to have such talented people around me that I just had to stand there and try not to say anything controversial. And hopefully I did OK.
The biggest thing for prepping was just having fun with it and feeling confident, and we did enough rehearsing that it was a piece of cake by the time we finally got out there.
It didn’t really hit me that it was going to be live for 30 minutes until I flew in to LA and got here and saw the red carpet and was like, “OK, what am I doing again and why did I sign up for this?” But it was a piece of cake, and when it comes down to it, that 30 minutes turns into such a small segment that you really have to be quick and efficient with your time, and that’s something I learned too.

Interviewing for the first time, you have to be well-prepared with your questions, and I think that’s one thing I took for granted, I guess, in interviews that I’ve done before. Being on the other side of the microphone, asking the questions, I have to be prepared and well-researched, and I think that’s something that I’m learning and have a whole new respect for.
I really liked interviewing Snoop, because it was unexpected. We didn’t know we were going to get him, and it was really fun, ’cause he was in his own world, but it was fun to interview Snoop. How many people get to do that?
I would love to do it again if you’ll have me, MTV!
