Yesterday Katy Perry and her new bestie Riff Raff gifted the world with their remix of KP’s “This Is How We Do.” While this move was, no question, unexpected, the two have more in common than you might think. Really! Perry and Jody Highroller not only share at least one of their friends, designer Jeremy Scott, they’ve also shown the same level of appreciation for ~out there~ fashion choices, especially over the past few years.
Aside from the cornrows they both fearlessly wear in the remix’s artwork, Katy and RiFF have been on the same sartorial wavelength when it comes to their love of food fashion, animal prints, and the fact that they spend all of their free time searching the dark corners of Tumblr for style inspiration. We rounded up all of the times the two dressed alike.
Green Hair, Don’t Care
Katy Perry and RiFF RAFF are both brave when it comes their hair choices–especially when it comes to colorful hair. The best part of their green hues? How much it brought out the blue in their eyes.
Watermelon

Before there was Beyonce’s “Drunk in Love,” Katy Perry was championing the then-underrated fruit in the form of a romper she wore on NBC’s “Today.” RiFF RAFF obviously took note of the fruit’s wearable potential— or the pair have some kind of telepathic connection (*fingers crossed*)— because he recently posted a photo of himself wearing full watermelon getup.

Bananas

If you put Katy and RiFF RAFF in a grocery store, chances are they’d go straight to the produce aisle. Their love of fruit also includes bananas, which they’ve both translated into outfits. Katy wore a bonkers banana jumpsuit at the 2008 VMAs, complete with banana gloves, and Riff Raff somehow found a way to one-up her with a full banana outfit.
Cookies

Clearly both Katy and Riff have sweet tooths (teeth?). They’ve even channeled their fondness for sugar in similar cookie clothing items. Katy first wore hers back in 2010, a chocolate chip-printed mini dress I wish was still up for sale, and Riff recently stepped out in (heh) a pair of cookies ‘n cream socks.
Something Fishy

Katy and Riff’s love of food knows no bounds, even when it comes to, uh, things that aren’t typically associated with clothing like fish. They’ve both put their love of the deep sea on display with their clothing. RiFF wore a muscle tee with fish bait printed all over it while Katy went an even bolder route, wearing a bodysuit covered with sushi.
Long Live Seapunk

Given their love of fish, it’s pretty appropriate that they both got in on the short-lived (or is it? see: Frank Ocean) micro-scene that landed on the nation’s radar after Rihanna used Seapunk visuals during her SNL performance. Katy wore her blue dyed hair with a blue Ellie Saab gown to the 2012 Grammys while RiFF more recently dyed his braids “blueberry” blue.
Animal Prints

Friends to the animals Katy Perry and Riff Raff both love their wild prints. Riff Raff, known for his love of snakeskin (and his pet snake, amazingly named Versace), has worn everything from the serpent print to every kind of wild cat print all at once. Meanwhile Katy showed just how far her dedication to animal prints goes in her “Roar” video.
Bucket Hats
Katy and human MTV logo Riff Raff love their ‘90s trend–bucket hats are no exception. Not surprisingly, Riff prefers his bucket hat logo-centric with Louis Vuitton’s monogram print all-over. Katy, on the other hand, opted for a tribal bucket hat a couple of weeks ago. As for who wore it better, we’ll let you be the judge of that.
