Katy Perry’s The New Face of COVERGIRL: Take A Look At Her 6 Best Video ‘Covermoments’!

Katy Perry wasn’t lying when she said she had some “beautiful news to share,” because she is now the new face of COVERGIRL.

On Wednesday (October 16), the “Roar” singer gave fans a sneak peek at her first ad as the new brand ambassador, a gig that officially kicks off in Spring 2014. In the photo, which is reminiscent of her Prism album cover, Perry looks gorgeous and glowing in minimal makeup, owning the COVERGIRL motto of “easy, breezy, beautiful.”

The COVERGIRL campaign is all about empowerment, confidence and beauty and Perry encompasses all three, both in style and in music.

“I live for writing empowering songs. I mean sometimes I need to write them to believe that I still have that strength inside of me, so a lot of my songs have that empowering message…” Perry told MTV News at the iHeart Radio Music Festival. “I think it’s important to look inside and have a sense of self…before you go out to the world and look for what other people think of you.”

And even though she’s just now officially a COVERGIRL, Katy has had many memorable looks throughout the years. So in honor of her new campaign, we’re taking a look back at some of Katy’s ‘covermoments’ in her music videos.

There’s no doubt, Katy looked stunning in the video in her queen of the jungle attire, but it’s the message of the song that truly resonates. The video is filled with self-empowered sentiments taking Katy on a journey from a scared girl to a fierce woman who is ready to overcome all adversities in her path.

“I started the record in November, but things were really flowing by the spring, and it’s a song about standing up for yourself,” Perry told MTV News. “Who can be the biggest bully in the equation is yourself and can get in your way and it’s a song about speaking up for yourself and having the strength.”

You may be able to kick Katy down, but you better bet on the fact that she will get right back up. In the video for “Part of Me,” Perry bounces back from a breakup by joining the Marines, and it’s there where she finds her inner strength.

“It’s an affirmation of strength, so I wanted to go the strongest route I ever could,” she explained. “Literally, I was like, ‘I’m gonna join the service. I’m gonna join the Marines.’ We used only Marines. … For three days, I was a wannabe Marine, which was so difficult.”

became the anthem of the year with a video that was poignant, moving and inspirational. Katy stripped away the “California Gurl” image for a more subtle look that lets the song’s strong message shine.

“I think that’s why I wrote it, is because I really believe in people and I believe that people have a spark to be a firework,” she told MTV News. “It’s just up to them, and a lot of times it’s only us that’s standing in the way of reaching our goals, fulfilling our destinies, being the best version of who we possibly can be, so that’s why I wrote it.”

The carefree “Teenage Dream” video seems like it was made for a COVERGIRL ad as it reminds everyone of what it feels like to first fall in love. Katy appears in the video fresh-faced in a laid-back California style as she road trips and parties on the beach showing off a much more vulnerable side.

“It exudes kinda this euphoric feeling,” Katy told MTV news. “Everybody remembers what their teenage dreams were, all the girls that were on your poster walls. I want to continue to be one of those.”

Known for her glamour and sleek style, Katy decided to show off her comedic side, transforming herself into her geeky alter ego for the 80s- style video, “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).” The video showed Katy in a new light, proving that she doesn’t take herself too seriously and can have fun no matter what her hairstyle, clothes or makeup may look like.

It was the song and video that made Katy a household name. And in its video, she showcased her pin-up style as she seduced the camera, giving off a good-girl-gone-bad vibe that instantly won over millions of fans all over the world.
