Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are engaged! The rapper asked the reality starlet to marry him Monday night, the same day that she celebrated her birthday.
The proposal went down in San Francisco in between dates on Kanye’s Yeezus tour, which kicked off over the weekend in Seattle. E! News reports that he rented out San Francisco’s AT&T Park and asked his longtime girlfriend to marry him with a 15-carat ring diamond designed by Lorraine Schwartz. As if getting down on one knee wasn’t enough, he also had the words “PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!” splashed across the jumbotron.
The report adds that the rapper had a 50-piece orchestra on hand to play Lana Del Rey’s “Young and Beautiful,” as well as one of his own collaborations; the Keri Hilson, Ne-Yo and Yeezy track, “Knock You Down.”
Kim and Kanye have a daughter, North, who was born in June. This is the first marriage for Kanye and the third for Kim. She was previously married to music producer Damon Thomas and, rather famously, to basketball player Kris Humphries.
Yeezy reportedly asked Kim’s mom and manager, Kris Jenner, for her blessing before he popped the question. She later confirmed the engagement, sharing, “A match made in heaven! I am so happy for both of my kids, Kim and Kanye.” Friends and family reportedly joined the newly engaged couple in San Francisco after she said “yes” to celebrate.
While Kimye might be celebrating their engagement, it’s back to work for Kanye (who recently sported a Kim K t-shirt). He’s slated to play San Jose Tuesday night (October 22) as the latest stop on his Yeezus tour.
As for Kim, she recently opened up about her relationship with the rapper, telling London’s Sunday Times Style, according to Us Weekly, that he serves as her stylist. “You want your guy to think you’re really hot. I’ll put something on and he’ll [Kanye] say, ‘No, that doesn’t look good’, and I’ll trust him,’ ” she said.
