Kurt Cobain’s Note To Courtney Love Released By Police

Twenty years after Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was found dead in his Seattle home, police have unveiled a previously unreleased note from the scene, addressed to his wife Courtney Love.

In the note obtained by CBS— which was found in Cobain’s wallet and written on stationery from the Phoenix Hotel — is what appears to be a rather sardonic play on traditional marriage vows, written for Love, his wife of two years.

“Do you Kurt Cobain take Courtney Michelle Love to be your lawful shredded wife,” he wrote. “even when she’s a bitch with zits and siphoning all (your) money for doping and whoring…”

Last month, two decades after Cobain’s death, Seattle police decided to review the case — but did not reopen it or re-investigate it. There have been several conspiracy theories surrounding his suicide — even a book published in 1999 titled Who Killed Kurt Cobain?: The Mysterious Death of an Icon — and it was those lingering questions and “a lot of media interest” that led cold case detective Mike Ciesynski to take another look.

The detective didn’t discover anything new in the case, but he explained that “there were so many conspiracy theories out there, it was good judgment on their behalf to hold to this.”
