Let’s Make Taylor Swift’s Chai Eggnog Cookies, Shall We?

Taylor Swift is kind of a cookie monster, if you didn’t notice. And I’m not sure if her baking obsession can be blamed on her bestie Karlie Kloss, who has her own brand of cookies for backstage at fashion shows, or if cookies are just so damn delicious. I’m guessing it’s the latter.

Swift Instgrammed her “Chai sugar cookies with cinnamon eggnog icing” (because what else would you do with cookies?), calling them “Christmas in September.” But of course, this isn’t her first confection she’s shown off.

Rememer the Christmas cookies she made with Hailee Steinfeld?

Or the apple pie she made for July 4?

Or what about that day off she had where she made a batch of chocolate chip?

At her recent listening party, she served fans pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, and shared the Food Network recipe on Tumblr. And since Taylor just seems to Google recipes like normal people, I thought I’d see what I could find on the Internet about chai cinnamon eggnog cookies. Turns out, Betty Crocker has some answers. I’ve added commentary, if you don’t mind.

Here’s what you’re going to need:

1 tea bag chai tea

sugar cookie mix

1/2 cup butter, melted

1 egg

1/4 cup eggnog (do not use canned)

Cinnamon-sugar

1 cup powdered sugar

1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

What to do:

1. First thing you’re going to want to do is preheat your oven, so turn the dial over to 350 F. Finish off your prep work by lining your baking sheets with parchment paper. Now let’s get dirty.

2. Take a bag of chai tea, empty all the leaves out and mix it in sugar cookie mix (I’m sure Taylor baked from scratch, but we all don’t have that skill, k?). Throw in some butter, egg and 2 tablespoons of the eggnog until well blended.

3. OK, shape little cookie balls and place onto your parchment-covered sheets. Dip the bottom of a glass into cinnamon sugar and use that to flatten the balls.

4. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 30 minutes. Thanks for the tips, Betty.

5. Lastly, you need your icing, so mix together powdered sugar, nutmeg and remaining 2 tablespoons eggnog until it’s smooth. Make sure the cookies are cooled before you put this delicious glaze on. You don’t need soggy cookies. Taylor would never make soggy cookies.

Try it for yourself and then tell us how you fared!
