Lil Snupe Suspect #2 Arrested For Fatal Shooting

A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of Meek Mill protégé Lil Snupe.

Edrick O. Stewart, a 21-year-old resident of Monroe, Louisiana, was booked into the Winnfield City Jail on charges of manslaughter Wednesday (July 3), according to a statement released to MTV News by the Winnfield Police. Originally, Snupe’s suspected killer, 36-year-old Tony Holden turned himself into authorities on June 25 and was charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Authorities are not releasing any further details on Stewart’s involvement in the homicide at this time, but they did release a photograph of the accused. No bond has been set for Stewart at press time, but one is expected, as Holden, who is currently being held at another facility, was granted a $2 million bond that he was unable to post.

The shooting death of Lil Snupe (born Addarren Ross) at the Maplewood Apartments at 1901 South Jones Street in Winnfield, Louisiana, was the result of an altercation that erupted during a private video-game session a friend’s apartment. The R.N.I.C. MC was in town visiting from Jonesboro when he was fatally shot twice in the torso.

Snupe was laid to rest at Jonesboro-Hodge High School in his hometown of Jonesboro, Louisiana, on June 29. Among the hundreds of mourners in attendance was Meek Mill, who had signed the promising 18-year old rapper to his Dream Chasers imprint on the spot late last year.

“I’m never one to talk at funerals,” Mill said when presented with a resolution from Jonesboro Mayor Leslie Thompson in the Shreveport Times. “I saw something in him. His demo tape spoke to me. I saw myself in him.”

One of the more emotional parts of the service was the letter that was read from Ross’ biological father Charlie Brown, who is currently incarcerated.

“He came from nothing,” Brown wrote. “He taught the young to never make excuses. When the doors open for me, the world will forever hear Lil Snupe!”
