On the surface, the hookup still makes no sense. Lil Wayne is a rap megastar who has built a hip-hop empire on the back of his outlaw image, while his latest signee, Paris Hilton, has built an empire by … being Paris Hilton.
The odd couple and labelmates sat down for a chat recently in Interview magazine, during which they bonded over their time behind bars, the premature rumors of their deaths and their love of Amsterdam.
The chat opens with Hilton recalling how she first met Weezy at one of his Grammy parties in Los Angeles, when he called her to host the event. “He really has this charisma,” she said. “When he walks into a room, he just has this power that’s exciting to be around.”
Wayne remembered meeting Hilton and then looking up and seeing her DJing. “She was at the dance, she had the mic,” he said. “It was really nice. She has fun, and I like that. I like people that enjoy life, ’cause I do the same.”
When Hilton asked what was the most bizarre rumor Wayne had read about himself, the Young Money boss said the reports of his (alleged) death during a seizure scare

» Wayne doesn’t listen to anyone else’s music except his own. “It’s kind of like sports to me,” he said. “You don’t see Kobe Bryant at a LeBron James game — he just works on his own game. And that’s what I do. I only listen to me, so I can criticize and analyze all those things.”
» They bonded over the time both of them spent around a month in solitary behind bars.
» Asked what his favorite place is in the world, Weezy said Amsterdam, which Hilton wholeheartedly seconded. “I love Amsterdam!” she said. “It’s so dope there. You can just ride a bike around.”
