Designer/model/stylist L’Wren Scott was found dead of apparent suicide in a Manhattan apartment Monday (March 17).
She was the long-time girlfriend of Mick Jagger, who is “shocked and devastated,” according to ABC News.
Scott, born Luann Bambrough, was found around 10 a.m. by her assistant hanged to death by a scarf tied to a doorknob, according to the New York Post. She did not leave a note.
According to the New York Daily News, Scott’s assistant came over after receiving a text from the designer.
A medical examiner will determine cause of death.
Scott was a multi-talented denizen of the fashion community, according to The Daily Beast, having become a model after setting off for Paris at age 18.
Since then, she has built a robust career, having styled for the likes of Nicole Kidman and Sarah Jessica Parker (and Jagger in Martin Scorsese’s concert film “Shine A Light”) and launched her own fashion line in 2006.
The 47-year-old had been dating Jagger for more than 10 years. According to Twitter, the rock star is currently in Australia.
