If you’re a fan of Ariana Grande and Mac Miller‘s “The Way,” then you’re in luck: The “Victorious” star and the Pittsburgh rapper have a few other records in the stash.
The pair were already locked into the studio creating before the 19-year-old Grande asked Miller to appear on the lead single for her upcoming debut LP, Daydreamin’, and though Mac thoroughly enjoyed working on the Big Pun-inspired “The Way,” it was all the songs they recorded before that Mac holds most fond.
Miller recalls Arianna coming to his “sacred studio,” where they made songs from scratch. “Those were the really awesome experiences,” he told MTV News on Friday. “The music that we [originally] made was why [‘The Way’] happened. That was the chemistry and that’s where the experience happened and that’s why it made sense to do that song.”
Mac Miller and Corey Feldman lead us through “S.D.S.,” frame by frame.
When MTV News caught up with Grande in March, she thought that another collaboration between her and Mac could make the final cut on her upcoming album. “We had been making music together and hanging out for a while, and he’s amazing, and we make really great music together. I think a couple of the other songs we’ve done together are going to be on my album as well,” she said.
The two clearly have chemistry, which is evident in the song’s cute teenage-love-tinged video, but while Mac and Ariana shared a smooch for the cameras, Miller told us the two are just friends and nothing more. “That’s the homey. She’s got a boyfriend and everything. Obviously, that [kiss] made everyone talk,” he clarified.
