Mac Miller has been hard at work promoting Watching Movies With The Sound Off, and with the June 18 release just around the corner, he’s got a very busy four days ahead of him. On Friday (June 14), the rapper amped up the hype even more by premiering his “Exorcist”-like new video for “Watching Movies.”
In the slightly darker video, there’s no shortage of twerking girls, biblical references and laser-eyed dudes, but he does get cozy in a casket at the end. “People worship these idols ’til they come in contact with gods,” Miller raps while driving shoe-less (his barefootedness is something we’ve witnessed on “RapFix Live“). If you did, in fact, watch this with the sound off, you might think it was part of a creepy movie — there’s a cross made out of broken televisions, a girl puking in bed at the videos start and a scolding priest, who Mac doesn’t seem fazed by.
Mac Miller Explains How ‘Objects In The Mirror’ Reflects His Real-Life ‘Emotion’
Like his previous video for “S.D.S.,” another track off Watching Movies With The Sound Off, it has a similar sinister aesthetic that could potentially set the tone for the rest of the album, although he does get sweet by singing on “Objects in the Mirror,” so it could be a surprise.
After heading uptown to BET’s “106 & Park” on the same day, Mac will also visit “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” alongside Ariana Grande, whom he collaborated with on her Daydream track “The Way.”
