Miley Cyrus will be getting animalistic on her upcoming Bangerz tour, though not in the ways you’d expect.
“Our whole tour is literally based on animals,” she told reporers, adding that the majority of the creatures are actually “imaginative animals” designed by “Ren & Stimpy” creator John Kricfalusi.
“His art is driving a lot of the tour,” Cyrus explained.
In addition to animated animals, Cyrus said she’s also bringing plenty of personal possessions on the trek — which kicks off February 14 in Vancouver — and despite the best advice of her mom-ager, Tish, she’s planning on giving them away to her fans during the show.
“I’m a little bit of a hoarder, so I hope my fans become hoarders. I want to give them real things to collect. I’ll have things falling out of the sky that most people would sell at the merch table,” she said. “This is my mom’s worst nightmare, because I always hoard things from when I go to concerts … all the kids always want to keep the confetti, but I want to give them real things to collect.”
Late last year, Cyrus told MTV News that the Bangerz tour will once again pair her with director Diane Martel, the woman responsible for her and her much-discussed VMA performance, but she’s also teaming with designers like Marc Jacobs, the Blonds and Jeremy Scott on her wardrobe (“Clothes for me, or a lack thereof, say a lot,” she laughed). And, as if all of that wasn’t enough, she’s also planning on poking fun at herself, too.
“I don’t have a hard time making fun of myself, so the whole thing is making the way people perceive me and doing that even more, be the character myself,” she said. “That’s what I think I’ve been representing, more than anything, in the past year. Being fun and carefree, that’s really what the show represents … we’re definitely bringing some kitties.”
