Miley Cyrus left the crowd in awe after her raunchy performance at 2013 VMAs, but she didn’t spend too much time thinking about it since she went directly to the studio to work with Kanye West afterwards.
During a visit to on Wednesday, Mike Will Made It, who executive produced Miley’s new Bangerz album, revealed that they both skipped out early to hit the studio with ‘Ye.
“We went to the studio with Kanye, so we went right back to work. We watched the VMAs a little bit then went straight to the studio,” he told MTV News’ Sway Calloway, adding that they were already completing a remix of “Black Skinhead.”
“We’re all working on that and it’s about done, we’re touching the beat up a little bit,” he added. “It sound crazy.”
Miley’s performance dominated headlines in the days following the August 25 show, and both Mike Will and Kanye West thought she came out on top. “It was entertainment. She does pop music, so she did exactly what she supposed to do,” Mike Will said. “She made the world talk about her for over a week and they’re still talking about her–We’re talking about her right now, so she won.”
Kanye agreed. “He told her that she did right too,” the Atlanta producer explained. “‘Ye is somebody who understands it. People that understand it aren’t gonna have anything too negative to say about the performance.”
“It’s really the people who don’t understand it and it’s really the media. Because if you ask a regular person they’re gonna [say] she was turnt up for the performance but it wasn’t the whole crazy uproar. She coulda did much worse. I felt like the performance was great. She’s 20 years old and she’s having a great time.”
“She’s successful so they’re gonna say anything about her, man.”
