Miley Cyrus is prepping what she hopes will be an “iconic” performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 25. And she promises that if you liked her VMA-nominated clip for “We Can’t Stop,” then this is the performance for you.
“Hopefully this is the best VMA performance of all time,” she told MTV News during rehearsals. “That’s the standard I’m setting. I just think it’s going to be so much fun… feeling the energy in rehearsals, it feels so good. It was kind of this crazy dream that’s we’ve been having this past month, so now to have it come to life is really beautiful.”
And if you always wanted to go to the house party featured in the video, well, the VMAs are your chance.
“My video is pretty insane, so if you can imagine that times a thousand [then you have my performance]. Everyone’s always told me the favorite thing about watching that video is that they want to go that party more than anything, now I feel like this is kind of my fans being at the party,” she said.
“It’s gonna be sick, especially being here in Brooklyn,” she continued. “It’s going to be amazing… it’s rock pop, hip-hop, everything I love in one performance. I’m ready to go!”
The same day she chatted about her VMA performance, Miley also shared another piece of her Bangerz album art, giving fans a third piece of the puzzle, with her teddy bear pal, Boo, finally landing in NYC with it. “Boo been going hard for me!… Soon! It’s coming soon!” she said about when fans will see the full album art.
Boo might make an appearance at the VMAs on Sunday. She added, “You’ll have to see that’s my date! It’s my boo!”
Miley is one of the many A-listers slated to take the stage when the VMAs go live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Sunday. She’s nominated for Best Song of the Summer, Best Pop Video and Best Female Video. The pre-show kicks off at 8 p.m. ET/PT followed by the main show at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
