Mumford & Sons Bassist Hospitalized For Blood Clot On Brain

Mumford & Sons have postponed three upcoming gigs following the hospitalization of bassist Ted Dwane on Monday.

“Our friend and bandmate Ted has been feeling unwell for a few days, and yesterday he was taken to a hospital to receive emergency treatment,” the band wrote in a note to fans on Monday. “The scans revealed a blood clot on the surface of his brain that requires an operation. Ted is receiving excellent care and we are being assured that he will recover quickly from surgery.”

As a result, three shows scheduled for this week have been put on hold, including a gig in Dallas on Tuesday (June 11), another in Woodlands, Texas, on Wednesday and a New Orleans date on Thursday. The band pledged to reschedule the dates as soon as they can and honor the tickets from this week’s planned shows at a future date. At press time they were not planning to cancel or postpone any other appearances on their tour.

Their next show is slated to take place this Saturday at the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tennessee.

A number of fans sent their get-well wishes, writing “Prayers for Ted. Will see you when Woodlands show is rescheduled! I will wait for you!” and “Ted, Texas loves ya’ll and I hope a speedy recovery for you sir! You guys have helped bring bluegrass back on the radar, my grandparents played for over 50 years in a bluegrass band. So when I first heard your songs, it immediately reached a place in my heart that brought back memories of them. I hope all goes well Ted, and we will see you back soon.”
