A new trailer for “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters” takes a closer look at the story and some of the creatures that will stand in the way of the returning heroes as they try to save their home.
Logan Lerman is back as Percy, the son of the Greek god Poseidon, and when an old enemy returns, he begins on a journey with friends Grover (Brandon T. Jackson) and Annabeth (Alexandra Daddario) to find the Golden Fleece, the only thing that will protect Camp Half-Blood.
The new threat arrives in the form of Luke, the traitorous Lightning Thief from the last film. The son of Hermes is now dead-set on unleashing Kronos, a force that could bring about the end of the half-bloods and the rest of the world.
While we do get a new hint at the story, what the new trailer is really all about is monsters. A wide range of beasts pop up for cameos including an enormous sea monsters and a mechanical bull that’s unlike anything you might have seen in a bar.
When Logan Lerman spoke with MTV News’ Josh Horowitz earlier this year, he teased some of the beasts that would come to life in “Sea of Monsters,” out August 7. “There are a good number of monsters. It won’t disappoint,” Lerman said. “We did see them on set. It was cool. A lot of them were actually in person, things that would be actually on camera that they’ll redo with visual effects. It was great. We had actors instead of a ball or a mark on a green screen.”
