The new YMCMB compilation album, Young Money: Rise of an Empire, arrives on March 11, and Nicki Minaj really showed up for this one.
An official track list for the project was revealed this weekend, and that was followed by the new single “Senile” featuring Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and Tyga on Monday (February 24). Tyga handles the hook, then the opening verse before Nicki and Wayne follow suit, and Young Money’s first lady isn’t holding back.
“Yeah I got an Audemar, I ain’t set the time once/And I know they say they shine, I ain’t seen ’em shine once/All these rappers is my sons, and I’m always nine months,” Nicki spits over the woozy beat by D.A. Doman, before wrapping up another memorable verse with, “I got this sh– locked tighter than a bear hug/when them bitches rap n—s need an ear plug.” Earlier this month Nicki dropped the single “Lookin’ Ass,” which will also appear on Rise of an Empire. Unfortunately, there was some uproar over the song’s non-official cover art, but all outcry aside, Ms. Minaj laid down some pretty heated bars on that track too.
These are Nicki’s only two appearances on Young Money: Rise of an Empire, but it sounds like her next solo album will arrive this year, so there’s plenty more to come.
