“Pitch Perfect” fans, you can all bring a collective pitch-slapping sigh of relief: Beca and Fat Amy are back.
That’s right: As if the news that Ms. Effie Trinket herself will be directing “Pitch Perfect 2” wasn’t enough to get your pulse (horizontal) running, both Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson have confirmed they’re back for round two.
The sequel to 2012’s a capella hit is set to hit theaters on May 15, 2015. We don’t know too many details yet on where it will pick up, but when we caught up with some of the cast at the Teen Choice Awards last year, they shared their own ideas on how to continue Bellas-versus-Treblemakers saga. Treblemaker leader Bumper may have left his group to sing backup for John Mayer, but Adam DeVine shared with us in August that he has a few ideas for his character’s comeback. “I pitched to Kay Cannon, who wrote the movie and is writing the second one as well, that I want to come back as a K-pop star,” he said. “Like, maybe it didn’t work in America, so I went over to Korea and just blew up. So we’ll see if she took that to heart and wrote it in the next script.”
Meanwhile, Skylar Astin, who plays Beca’s love interest Jesse, had his sights set on a multicultural sequel.
“I want everyone to go abroad. I want the whole thing to be international just so we can film in a really cool location, but also, I think it would be really cool to see different countries’ perspective on a cappella,” he said. ” I think that would be really awesome. Because what do you do after you win nationals? You go international. That’s my pitch.”
