Riff Raff is supposed to release his Neon Icon album this year. That’s the plan anyway. Of course, it might not come as much of a surprise to learn that Riff Raff doesn’t really do plans.
“I don’t even know what to expect. I drop videos off the cuff … I don’t stop. I may switch the whole plan up and drop something else,” he told MTV News. “Right now we got 100 songs, and we’re trying to sift through ’em and get the best ones, but they’re all the best ones. So every day we just making a new song, and they keep getting better and better and better.”
While he might not release Neon Icon at all, Riff was quick to point out that the album (or whatever it ends up being) “will have, probably 15, 20 tracks on the whole thing.” This not only leaves plenty of room for his best songs, but also means that collaborations with Drake, A$AP Rock and Mac Miller will make the cut.
Then again, we can’t be sure about that … mostly because Riff Raff isn’t sure either.
“I worked with so many people, man I can’t even remember,” he said. “Madonna, Billy Idol, beautiful girls, I don’t know.”
Totally. And as for his influences, well, Riff is aiming high. The way he sees it, his debut album will put him up amongst the all-time greats. And ensure him a life of luxury and lobsters.
“My influences is money. Anything that involves money and luxury and lobster and mansions and all that stuff,” he said. “If somebody wants to get inside my brain and figure out what I’m chasing, what I’m after think Richard Branson, think Madonna, think Lady Gaga. That’s the best way to put it to you.”
