Rihanna Has Two Words For CBS Pulling Her Song: ‘F-ck You!’

Let it be known that Rihanna is not pleased with CBS.

The “Diamonds” singer took to Twitter on Tuesday (September 16) to call out the network for “penalizing” her on account of suspended NFL player Ray Rice’s domestic assault charges. The league and the network cut the season-opening Thursday Night Football song “Run This Town,” citing the Rice incident.

“CBS you pulled my song last week, now you wanna slide it back in this Thursday? NO, F-ck you! Y’all are sad for penalizing me for this.” She added: “The audacity…”

A video of the former Baltimore Raven beating his wife was leaked by TMZ last week, resulting in his indefinite suspension by the NFL. The planned Thursday Night Football Theme, a Jay Z trackfeaturing Rihanna and Kanye West, was subsequently omitted from the September 11 game.

While CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus vaguely explained to Sports Illustrated that the decision was a matter of “time” and “tone,” many in the media felt that CBS and the NFL were, in essence, punishing Rihanna for being a victim of domestic violence herself at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown, in 2009.

“She was not the perpetrator, but rather the victim,” Scott Mendelson wrote for Forbes, “yet she is being (indirectly?) punished due to her association with domestic violence as opposed to being thought of as an artist first and a crime victim second.”

Speaking of which, Rihanna is currently in the studio recording her as-yet-untitled next album. This may or may not be the reported “concept album” she’s helming for DreamWorks’ upcoming film “Home,” in which the singer also stars.

Bad at filling out bios seeks same.
