When Sam Smith hit up a karaoke bar last night, he did what any normal person in his situation would do: sing all the Beyoncé. (We also would have accepted Mariah Carey or Toni Braxton.) Unlike any normal person, however, Sam Smith sounds like, um, Sam Smith when he sings, though I’m sure you sound lovely, too.
After his concert at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Tuesday night, the “Restart” singer and his crew popped into Lonnie’s Western Room — which describes itself as “The #1 Karaoke Bar In Tennessee And Florida!” on its website. #ShotsFired
First up, Sam and his three friends — who ABC News says are his actual backup singers — performed an utterly flawless rendition of BEYONCÉ track “Flawless.” They followed that up with a tightly harmonized cover of the Destiny’s Child classic, “Say My Name.” So beautiful! It’s as if Beyonce, Kelly, LaTavia, LeToya, Farrah and Michelle were up there with him.
Watch Sam prove that he did, in fact, wake up like on this.
And watch him sing “Say My Name.”
