See How Much The Death Star Would Cost In Real Life

Infographic by Nick Desantis

“That’s no moon. That’s a space station.”

That’s how Obi-Wan Kenobi famously described the “ultimate power in the universe,” the Death Star. Since its introduction in 1977, the planet-destroying superweapon has made an indelible mark on pop culture, even though it, along with Lando and the Ewoks, probably won’t appear in “Episode VII.”

It’s weird, then, that we never actually learn too much about it in those movies. We know it has a tractor beam, a trench, and an exhaust port, stores some Tie Fighters, houses lots of troops, officers, and prisoners, and has a pest problem in its trash compactor.

Luckily, plenty has been written about the Death Star, so we compiled all of the data into one mega-infographic that breaks down everything you need to know about the space station, from its dimensions to the number of AT-ATs it holds (more than 1,400!) to how much it would actually cost to build in real life ($852 quadrillion dollars, which yes, is a real number).

Check it out, and become the ultimate power in the trivia universe.
