‘Sons Of Anarchy’: Will We See Lea Michele’s Gertie Again?

There’s a whole lot of nastiness brewing in Charming, California. The members of SAMCRO have forged new alliances and business opportunities, while getting their hands around the neck of one of their many Judases. Jax Teller’s mother Gemma, meanwhile, is on the edge of a nervous breakdown over what she did to Jax’s wife so many weeks ago. All the while, new enemies and old friends look ready to take their shot at bringing the Sons to justice.

And then there’s Lea Michele.

With so much up in the air, here’s what we’re wondering about this week’s “Sons of Anarchy,” called “Smoke ‘Em If You Got ‘Em.”

1. Will Juice Die Next Week?

FX

I mean, how does he not die next week? After spending the entire season on the run from the club and the law, Juice is finally in SAMCRO’s clutches. What can he possibly do to save himself? Tell Jax the truth about what Gemma did to Tara? Won’t that just send Jax into overdrive?

Then again, this is “Sons of Anarchy,” a show that’s all about curveballs. And this is Juice we’re talking about, a man who has proven to have at least as many lives as a cat. Perhaps there’s still hope — but there isn’t much.

2. Is Nero About To Learn The Truth About Tara?

Jimmy SmitsFX

Gemma looks ready to spill the beans about killing Tara, now that she knows SAMCRO has Juice. She ends the episode with her face buried in Nero’s chest, crying her eyes out as she realizes the truth is about to come out. How much longer can she contain herself?

Really, it’s not a question of if Gemma’s lies will be exposed, but what happens next. And Nero is the first stop on that tour. If Gemma tells him what she did to Tara, what will Nero do with that information? Does he sit on it? Does he take it to the club? A tricky situation is about to get even trickier.

3. Will We See Gertie Again?

gertie_gemmaFX

You don’t have Lea Michele on “Sons of Anarchy” just for a handful of arbitrary scenes at a diner, right? There have been stranger cameos along the way, but it feels like there’s more to Gemma’s connection with Gertie.

Could she be a port in the storm, if Gemma needs to hit the road and escape Jax’s justice? Will we ever find out Gertie’s recipe for delicious blueberry danishes? The world needs to know!

4. What’s Next For Unser?

Wayne UnserFX

The former Charming sheriff, turned consulting detective, is making morally correct choices, at the expense of his relationship with the club. In forcing Gemma to tell Sheriff Jarry about the Triad’s role in Tara’s death, Unser strains his connection with the woman he loves, and is commanded to remove his RV home from the Teller-Morrow premises.

But that’s just the beginning of Unser’s problems. At the end of the episode, the cancer-stricken ex-cop sits down with Candy Eglee, the Charming police officer who was almost fatally wounded while observing a meet between SAMCRO and the Aryan Brotherhood. Once she tells Unser what she knows, will Unser go so far as to use that intel against the club? And if he makes that move, is there any hope he gets out alive?

5. Will The SAMCRO-Mayan Alliance Hold?

alvarezFX

For now, it looks like a mutually beneficial deal for both parties: Marcus Alvarez gets a new business with a slice of the drug trade in Stockton, and Jax restores peace with a reliably shaky party. But that’s an important point to keep in mind: the Sons and the Mayans have not always gotten along, to put it lightly.

Even if business is smooth right now, what happens if (and most likely when) it comes out that the Sons went to war against the Triad for pretty much no reason at all? Can the Mayans keep working with a guy like Jax Teller, who made such a ridiculously reckless decision?

6. Should We Fear August Marks?

marksFX

Yeah. Yeah, we should absolutely fear August Marks. He warned Jax that he earned his reputation due to ruthlessness. Jax didn’t listen. Jax repeatedly poked the bear, going so far as to deposit several of Marks’ soldiers right outside of Marks’ doorstep. Risky move.

Could that kind of heat take Marks out of the game on its own? Possibly — but not definitely. Marks isn’t the type who walks away from a fight, especially given how much mud Jax is throwing in his direction. August’s wrath could make the Diosa massacre look like a walk in the park.

7. Are Jax And Wendy Going To Reseal The Deal?

wendyFX

Early on in the episode, Bobby and Wendy have a chat about how Wendy still loves Jax. It’s the third reminder this season alone that Wendy still has feelings for the father of her child — the same man who shot drugs into her arm while she was recovering from addiction, just to get her to stay away from Charming. Pretty nice guy!

And yet, the show seems to be positioning Jax and Wendy for some kind of reconciliation. If that’s the direction we’re going, do you buy that? Do you buy Jax and Wendy as the final power-couple of “Sons of Anarchy,” or is that a bridge too far, given everything they’ve been through, and given that Tara’s corpse isn’t even one month in the ground at this point?

What do you think will happen next on “Sons of Anarchy”?

Likes pizza, punch and pie. Dislikes the Chitauri.
