Just two days before the MTV Video Music Awards, nominees Taylor Swift and Ellie Goulding hit the stage together Friday night at Los Angeles’ Staples Center to perform Goulding’s hit single “Anything Can Happen.”
As if the sold-out crowd wasn’t red with excitement enough for the “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer and her tourmate and fellow VMA nominee, Ed Sheeran, a “15,000 person dance party” broke out as fans captured photos and videos of the duo onstage.
After the special moment, Taylor and Ellie took to Twitter and Instagram to profess their love for each other.
Ellie gave us a little backstage access posting her Red tour name card and then the two even competed in their version of a beauty contest, which entailed making funny faces.
While this was a first for the Swift-Goulding duo, Swifties are no strangers to surprise guests on her Red summer stadium tour. This was the third of four sold-out performances in L.A, and fans there have been shocked with guest performances by sister duo Tegan and Sara, Cher Lloyd and Sara Bareilles, who performed her single “Brave.”
While Taylor seems to be having an amazing time in L.A., it’s off to New York for the singer, who is up for two awards and is slated to present at Sunday’s Video Music Awards. She’s up for Video of the Year and Best Female Video. Goulding, meanwhile, is up for Best Song of the Summer for “I Need Your Love.” It all airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
