Taylor Swift, Macklemore Are ‘DAMN’ Excited For VMA Nominations

The nominees for the 2013 Video Music Awards were announced in the wee hours of the morning on Wednesday (July 17), but that didn’t stop the selected artists from hopping on Twitter to share their excitement. And capital letters and exclamation points were all the rage.

“DAMN!!!! We got 6 MTV video music award nominations!?!?!?!!!!” Macklemore tweeted just minutes after MTV announced that he and Ryan Lewis are up for Video of the Year, Best Hip Hop Video, Best Cinematography, Best Direction and Best Editing. It’s the duo’s first trip to the VMAs, and they’re tied with veteran Justin Timberlake for the most nods.

Fellow first-time nominee Iggy Azalea showed her gratitude and excitement for her inclusion to the Artist to Watch, Presented by Taco Bell award and tweeted “Iam so happy to be nominated for an MTV VMA!!!!!! thankyou a million times @mtv.”

Her competition, Austin Mahone posted “AHHHHHHHH JUST FOUND OUT I’M NOMINATED FOR A VMA!!!,” while Musical March Madness runner-ups Thirty Seconds To Mars appeared to be screaming to the sky when they shared “BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! UP IN THE AIR has been nominated for THREE MTV AWARD NOMINATIONS! THREE!!! Wow! THX @MTV!!!”

Video of the Year and Best Female Video nominee Taylor Swift referred to her infamous 2009 Video Music Awards incident with Kanye West and playfully tweeted “Two VMA nominations!! If you vote and get us one, I promise to keep a firmer grip on the mic this time ;)”

While thanking MTV and fans for their nominations, many of the nominees smartly took the opportunity to promote to Video Music Awards voting. Best Male Video nominee and Musical March Madness winner Ed Sheeran and Best Rock Video nominees Imagine Dragons wasted no time and sent their fans directly to the appropriate pages.

Best Collaboration nominee Pitbull, posted “Thank you to @mtv and @xtina for the VMA nomination #feelthismoment #dale,” his “Feel This Moment” collaborator Christina Aguilera immediately chimed in with her own excitement, adding “Nice!”

And after our own @MTVNews account congratulated Bruno Mars on his four nominations, the “Locked Out of Heaven” singer replied “Thank You @MTVNews what an Honor!!” You are very welcome, Mr. Mars.

Whether you’re a Lovatic, Mahomie, Selenator, Sheerio or Smiler, it’s time to get voting!
