At the risk of getting all dramatic, POP MUSIC EMERGENCY! POP MUSIC EMERGENCY! During Taylor Swift’s Yahoo! live stream on August 18, the 24-year-old singer announced that her fifth studio album — titled 1989 after the year she was born — will be released later this year on October 27.
That’s like… I don’t have time to Google how many days that is from today. THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS WE MUST DISCUSS.

After debuting the LP’s lead single, “Shake It Off,” for the very first time, the VMA performer began whipping out the 1989 album details like they were high ponytails during an “All Too Well” piano breakdown.
She revealed that the disc, which she had been working on for two years, is her “most sonically cohesive album I’ve ever made — my favorite album I’ve ever made.” She also shared that it is her “first documented, official pop album,” and that she was particularly inspired by the “endless possibility” of late-’80s pop.
Oh, that reminds me: GIVE IT TO ME.
