The Big Chill: ‘Frozen’ Continues To Dominate Billboard Charts

Spring has sprung, but you couldn’t tell by looking at the Billboard charts, as the soundtrack to Disney’s continues to chill at #1.

We’re Running Out Of ‘Frozen’ Puns

For the third-straight week, “Frozen” tops the albums chart, selling more than 161,000 copies, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. It also marks the soundtrack’s eighth overall week at #1 … and while “Frozen” still has a ways to go before it can break into Billboard’s list of the most-successful movie soundtracks of all time, it’s certainly beginning to warrant consideration.

With eight weeks atop the chart, “Frozen” now has the longest run at #1 since Adele’s massive 21, which logged 24 weeks in the top spot in 2012.

“Frozen’s” dominance is even more impressive when you consider that, once again, it beat out a bunch of big-name debuts to take the top spot: Last week, it was the likes of YG and Foster the People, this time out it’s Shakira and, uh, Johnny Cash.

Shakira — Columbian hip-shaker’s first album in nearly four years — opens at #2, selling nearly 85,000 copies, followed by the Man in Black’s posthumous Out Among The Stars, which sold nearly 54,000. The rest of the Top 5 is rounded out by Memphis May Fire‘s Unconditional, which opens at #4 with sales of more than 27,000 copies, and Pharrell‘s G I R L, which sold another 25,000 copies to come in at #5.

My Chemical Romance Chart From Beyond The Grave

The rest of the Billboard Top 10 sees gospel talent Erica Campbell’s Help debuting at #6 with sales of more than 23,000 copies, YG’s My Krazy Life at #7, selling nearly 23,000 copies in its second week, Barry Manilow’s Night Songs at #8 (nearly 22,000 copies sold), My Chemical Romance’s career-capping greatest hits album May Death Never Stop You at #9 (more than 20,000 copies sold) and Lorde’s Pure Heroine, which sold another 20,000 copies in its 26th week of release.

Have You Heard This ‘Happy’ Song?!?

What “Frozen” is to the Billboard albums chart, Pharrell’s “Happy” is to the Digital Songs chart: the hit notches its seventh week at #1, selling more than 320,000 downloads — it’s also #1 on iTunes — easily outpacing John Legend’s “All of Me,” which remains in the second spot with sales of 226,000 downloads.

The songs chart isn’t completely “Frozen”-free, of course: Idina Menzel’s “Let It Go” continues to rise, moving to #3 with sales of 164,000 downloads. Jason Derulo’s “Talk Dirty” falls to #4, followed by Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse,” which holds steady at #5.

Aloe Blacc’s “The Man” remains at #6, with DJ Snake and Lil Jon’s “Turn Down for What” close behind at #7 (up to spots from last week). Bastille’s “Pompeii” is in at #8, followed by the Chainsmoker’s “#SELFIE” at #9 and Florida Georgia Line’s “This Is How We Roll” rounding out the Top 10.
