The ‘Girls’ Guide To Reacting To Your Friend’s Big Break

Warning: Spoilers for the February 23 episode of “Girls,” “Incidentals,” ahead.

Ahh, success. Some of us experience it; all of us have reacted to it. As we’ve previously explored, everyone has their own way of coping with death, and the success of a friend — happy for them, maybe a little bittersweet for you — is no different.

On this week’s episode of HBO’s “Girls,” “Incidentals,” Adam is on the receiving end of a big break when he’s cast in his first Broadway role. Everyone, from Adam himself to Broadway legend guest star Patti LuPone, has something to say about it. Except Jessa, who, well. Doesn’t really.

Here’s everyone’s reaction to Adam’s big break.

» Adam: OK, cool, thank you very much. (Shoves paper towel in mouth and screams.)

» Desi: Yeah, I know.

» Hannah: Are you serious? Oh my god!

» Patti LuPone: Wow. Wow. His first Broadway role. Well, good luck. I’ll tell you what, he’s going to need you to support him and forgive him because he’s going to be an asshole.

» Jenna Lyons [ed: yes, we know her character has a name, but let’s be real.]: Broadway, hmm? Well, have fun.

» Elijah: I have to admit, I never thought he’d be the first. To fulfill his dream.

» Shoshanna: Oh, my god. Are you afraid he’s going to leave you for, like, Sutton Foster?

» Marnie: Congratulations, Adam! Oh my god. So exciting. Me? Yeah, so good. I’m just gonna run to the restroom, I’ll be right back. Ha! That is a f—in’ closet!

» Jessa: (Ignores Adam)
