Some do it for fun. Some just try to survive. No matter the reason, the inevitability remains: there’s a new “Purge” on the way.
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” actor Frank Grillo steps into the spotlight for “Anarchy,” on a vengeance quest that isn’t entirely explained in the trailer. Whatever Grillo’s motivations are, it appears he has a soft side, as well. When a couple’s car breaks down, leaving them vulnerable to the 12-hour free-fall of civilization, Grillo’s character stops and helps them through the rest of the night.
“As long as we keep moving,” he tells them, “we’re going to be okay.”
That’s a bold statement to make, given the absolute pandemonium ringing throughout the crime-ravaged streets. Killers in masks run rampant, auctions are held for the social elite to bid on sin — all in all, it’s an utter nightmare for anyone unlucky enough to be out and exposed to the whims of anarchy.
“The Purge: Anarchy” wreaks havoc nationwide on July 18.
