The Wanted Welcome Nathan Sykes Back Onstage After Vocal Surgery

The Wanted had a huge surprise for fans during their set at the Summertime Ball Festival in London on Sunday: the return of Nathan Sykes.

The 20-year-old singer has been missing-in-action since undergoing vocal cord surgery in April, and the rest of the boys made it sound like it was unclear when he would return during a late May appearance
on the E! talk show “Chelsea Lately,” when they said they hadn’t spoken to him in several months.

But, taking the stage in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium, Sykes appeared back in form, though he told British reporters afterwards that he’s yet to finish his vocal parts for the group’s next album after suffering what was reported to be a hemorrhaged vocal cord. According to reports, after the Wanted ran through a set packed with hits, Sykes came out to sing his solo on the single “I Found You,” to the delight of the sold-out crowd.

Manager Scooter Braun was psyched to see the boys back together, tweeting, “That was incredible!!! @NathanTheWanted I’m very proud of u. U worked hard and that was an amazing surprise and ridiculous solo!! Well done!”

It was an emotional moment for Sykes as well, who wrote, “Thanks for all the love today. Really put a smile on my face.”

The
singers have been giving fans a sneak peek at their private lives on the E! reality show
including how they’ve been faring while waiting to see how Sykes recovers from his surgery.
