It may seem like the older generations run the world, but let’s think about who really calls the shots. It’s not mom and dad, and it’s not the bosses of the world — it’s teens.
Science shows us that between the ages of 12 and 19, a person can actually know everything. It’s a brief period of cognitive possibility that, can we just say, is totally wasted on the young. Looking at the movies world with this knowledge, we’d like to point out that it’s a damn shame that the Academy Awards are chosen by adults. In fact, it’s an injustice that teens aren’t allowed to just name the movies in the first place.
With that in mind, we polled the teens* around us and asked them what they thought the year’s Best Picture Nominees, as well as other critically acclaimed releases (that “Inside Llewyn Davis” Oscar snub still burns) should be called, and grabbed a critical pull-quote from them while we were at it.
