Deric Peace is literally the greatest mind of our time. This guy actually figured out how to turn a regular, ordinary old automatic ice maker into a machine that Willy Wonka himself would co-sign.
When he places his glass under the dispenser, it’s not cubes of frozen water that drop out of his freezer. Instead, he’s blessed with handfuls of still-wrapped, chocolate-candy goodness.. Just watch:
I mean, really, who needs ice when you could have buckets of bite-size candy dispensed at will?! And yes, his set-up can handle the crushed-ice setting.
Just in case it wasn’t extremely obvious, Deric explained what inspired him during a Reddit AMA: “[The idea] literally just came to me the other night, and I said, ‘I don’t really use the ice maker for ice, and I wonder…’
“The next morning I spent about 40 dollars at Rite-Aid, and the woman who checked me out thought I was an idiot. Probably still am, but when I poured in the first batch of reese’s cups, and they just poured out like I hit the candy jackpot, I was beside myself. I love candy, I love making things easier, and making non-useful things (to me) more so. That’s really it.”
The mad scientist also declared he’s never going back to ice again. As for his next life hack, he left Reddit with a cliffhanger ending that we can only HOPE comes to fruition.
