Timbaland has his priorities.
After getting “emotional” while executive producing Michael Jackson’s much-anticipated posthumous album, XSCAPE, the superproducer revealed the details about his next project: Opera Noir.
Timbo’s fourth studio album was originally titled Textbook Timbo, but, over the course of the last year, the LP evolved after he realized who he was as an artist, what he was comfortable with and what he wanted to do.
“My album is called Opera Noir, ‘black opera,’” Tim told REVOLT. “It’s the truth. It’s just about life in general. My life. My personal life, and I found myself as an artist, as a human being and as a man.”
And while Timothy has had a hand in some of music’s biggest hit albums (Aaliyah’s One in a Million and Justin Timberlake’s FutureSex/LoveSounds) and singles (Nelly Furtado’s “Promiscuous” and Jay Z’s “Dirt Off Your Shoulder”), he set the bar pretty high for himself while comparing his upcoming solo set to a certified classic.
“It’s way different,” he said. “It’s more of a sound. It’s Timbaland’s Chronic. Dre have his Chronic, I finally made my Chronic. When it comes out and you see the whole package, you’ll understand why. You’ll get it, you’ll see it, and you’ll be like, ‘Wow, I’ve never seen nothing like this.’”
As for guest features, the “FuckWithMeYouKnowIGotIt” beat maestro is keeping it pretty simple.
“Me and my new artist, her name is V. Just me and her. And Cee-Lo. That’s it,” he said.
