Usher And Ed Sheeran Cut A Track Together… At Passover Dinner?

What do you get when you mix Ed Sheeran and Usher? Musical magic…or at least that’s what we hope.

While promoting his upcoming album, Multiply, on BBC Radio 1, Sheeran divulged that he and the “Good Kisser” singer recently cut a track together after bonding last month, calling the meet-up a “random experience.”

“I was at a Passover dinner and sat next to Usher, it was quite random. I met him once before, but never enough to be like ‘Yo what’s up man?’ but he went over to me with his phone and he’s like ‘Yo check it out’ and he downloaded ‘Sing,’ ” Sheeran recalled. And he was like ‘Yo, man, do you want to get in the studio sometime?’ and I was like ‘Yes, Usher, I would love to get into the studio sometime.”

Sheeran, who performed “One” and “Tenerife” during the broadcast, revealed that he didn’t want to waste time getting in touch with “The Voice” coach, even texting him at 1 a.m. to join him in the booth.

“[Usher was] like, ‘Yeah, we are just getting started,’” recalled Ed, saying Ush was also in the studio with Skrillex and Diplo. “And I went down and we made this awesome song. I had this guitar idea on my phone it was literally just a voice note and I emailed it to Skrillex then he took it in sampled it and made a beat out of it, and then me and Usher just went back and forth on melody ideas and lyric ideas.”

The British singer gushed over how well he and Usher worked together on the song, which could potentially be featured on Usher’s upcoming album. In fact, the track turned out so good, that it crossed Ed’s mind to keep it for himself.

“It was one of those songs that, as soon as we finished it, we were jamming out listening to the rough mix of it and I’m in my head, thinking ‘I want this song,’ ” Sheeran joked. “It was one of those days where I was half dead from not sleeping and he really kept me energized and I was just drinking water. … He was in the booth and he would sing something and I would fly something his way and he would fly something my way and he literally recorded as we wrote, it was great.”
