“Game of Thrones” has officially become HBO’s most watched show of all time, with an average of 18.4 million viewers every week throughout its currently airing fourth season. That’s 200,000 more viewers than “The Sopranos” at its all-time high; the James Gandolfini-starring series topped out with 18.2 million viewers in 2002, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The rise of “Thrones” is up four million viewers from its third season, showing steady signs of growth as the show wars on. Looks like all of that head-popping violence has paid off for the Westeros faithful.
Then again, “The Sopranos” pulled off the head-popping trick first.
