Will Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj Bring ‘American Idol’ Fire To BET Awards?

After spending one fiery season together on “American Idol,” Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey are putting their differences aside to perform at the 2013 BET Awards on June 30.

It will mark the first major awards show for the two performers to appear at together since they both announced their departures from “Idol” last month. Minaj and Carey made headlines during their tenure on “Idol” for their sometimes heated relationship on the judging panel.

Since announcing their departures, Carey has announced her July 23 album release, The Art of Letting Go, as well as a world tour. Meanwhile Minaj is not only busy with her own music, but recently filmed her role in “The Other Woman.”

Minaj is nominated at the show for Best Female Hip Hop Artist against Azealia Banks, Eve, Rasheeda and Rye Rye.

According to the network, they will be joined by “Body Party” singer Ciara and India.Arie. Previously announced performers include Chris Brown, Miguel, R. Kelly and Kendrick Lamar.

Nicki’s pal Drake is one of the lead nominees of the night, up for a 12 awards, including five separate nominations in the Video of the Year category for “Started From the Bottom,” “HYFR” and his contributions to 2 Chainz’s “No Lie,” A$AP Rocky’s “F—in’ Problems” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Poetic Justice.”

Other big nominees include 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar with eight nominations each, A$AP Rocky and Jay-Z with five, and Justin Timberlake and Miguel with four apiece.

Former MTV VJ La La Anthony and actress Paula Patton were just added as presenters for the fete, taking place at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles with Chris Tucker hosting. It airs Sunday, June 30 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
