‘American Idol’: Who Made It To The Finale?

Candice Glover and Kree Harrison will compete for the title of during next week’s finale, as Angie Miller was sent home on Thursday’s (May 9) “Idol” results episode.

Miller, the spunky 18-year-old from Beverly, Massachusetts, was voted off the show following her performance on Wednesday’s episode. She sang three songs — Elton John’s “Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word,” Pink’s “Try” and Emeli Sande’s “Maybe” — and received strong marks for all three from the judges. But she was criticized for not performing “Sorry” at the piano, which was considered by the panel to be her strong suit. Mentor Jimmy Iovine, who chose the song for her, said, “That was so set up to give her a moment. She chose not to play the piano; to me, that was a big mistake. Although it was great, it could have been ‘That Moment.’ “

Glover was the first one given the news that she’d be in the final. When Harrison was told she made it over Miller, a look of shock came over her face, as well as the faces of several of the judges.

Miller, heavily choked up by tears, sang Colton Dixon’s “Never Gone” as her goodbye song.

Glover and Harrison will battle it out next Wednesday, with a winner to be crowned on Thursday’s finale. Iovine was so confident Glover would be headed to the finals that he said of the 23-year-old, “if she goes home, I’m going with her.”
