AraabMUZIK ‘Alive And Well’ After Shooting

Hip-hop producer and MPC maestro Abraham Orellana, better known as AraabMUZIK, is “currently alive and well” as he recovers in a local hospital after being shot Wednesday during an attempted robbery in his native Providence, Rhode Island.

Orellana’s manager, George Moore, who is also a producer and record label executive under the moniker Duke Da God, was the first to announce his artist’s brush with death via Twitter and Instagram, encouraging fans to wish the “MVP OF THE MPC” well as he was lying in a hospital bed surrounded by loved ones.

“Everyone wish my brother araabmuzik a healthy & pleasant recovery!!!! #Mvpofthempc #Soblessed,” he wrote.

Authorities are investigating the shooting, but no suspects have been arrested and no motives have been released. According to Orellana’s publicist, the producer was just “in the wrong place at the wrong time” while spending time with friends.

AraabMUZIK has produced tracks for a variety of rap’s biggest acts, including A$AP Mob (“Dope, Money and Hoes”), Swizz Beatz (“Street Knock”) and Slaughterhouse (“Hammer Dance”). He’s known for his work on the MPC, an electronic, touch-sensor drum kit.

“Rumors have begun to circulate and first and foremost, we want to let everyone know that AraabMUZIK is currently alive and well,” Orellana’s reps told Billboard in a statement. “He was out in his neighborhood last night with friends and unfortunately the victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He is recovering now and police are investigating the crime. We appreciate all the concern and fan support and Araab is looking forward to a speedy recovery and returning to the stage as soon as he can.”
